Just a few more ... Pic 1 New footrests for rear passengers, and my footbars. These will all be black (to go with my soul ). Also, the mudguard supports have been cut off and will be re-fixed on each side with a single bracket that will be made by bending a bar to support each mudguard in two places. Pic 2 This pic shows where the frame itself was cut and lengthened, as well as being reshaped to allow me to sit lower. It also shows how much extra storage space I'll have within the trike frame - the section under my seat is where the extra fuel tank will go and effectively I'll have storage from the shorter of the two vertical bars forwards. The way the shaft for the gear linkage rises along with the frame helps to maximise this. Should be able to fit a helmet in there and more besides. Pic 3 This one shows where the gearshift will be located - obviously it won't be sticking up that high, it's just to get it in place and allow the upholsterer to shape the driver's seat cushion accordingly. My new speedo and front brake disk arrived yesterday. Annoyingly, the speedo doesn't include a fuel gauge - however, I got the spec from the US-based site but bought from a supplier in the UK, which means it's not their fault, so it looks like I'll have to just get a separate wee fuel gauge for the centre console.

A few more piccies - getting closer! First couple are the restored & reworked bodyshell with the first coat of paint - the section that had been cut away at the rear to let it fit over the engine has now been replaced with a new section, made of aluminium and sculpted around the shape and height of my new engine. You wouldn't know it was there! It's just had its first coat of paint. Third one shows the front section of the new storage compartment enclosed, along with the new additional fuel tank under my seat. It holds about 14.5 litres, so my range will be more or less doubled. The bodywork/access door for enclosing the storage section has all been made up and just needs painted. Fourth one shows the engine now fitted, along with the new starter and mated to the Beetle gearbox using a custom flywheel. New coilover shocks also fitted., and the frame has had its first coat of paint - running bars still to get theirs!

Just a couple more ... The finished headstock along with the repositioned mounting points for fuel tank and radiator, plus the fuel tanks after getting their first coat of paint (along with the top section of Wesley's ladder!). For all the black paint, my trike is gonna be awfy shiny looking!

Got me a pair of six inch polished aluminium handlebar risers - means that even with the headstock being further away from me than before, my existing bars will be sufficient till a get a chunkier set. £16 off ebay.
